There are three condiments in my refrigerator that must be present at all times: Ranch, ketchup, and Comeback Sauce. I’m not sure where I first heard about this creamy Cajun deliciousness–Pinterest, perhaps?–but now that I’ve been introduced, I am officially hooked. Reminiscent of the sauce that accompanies a “blooming onion” at Outback Steakhouse, Comeback Sauce is zesty and flavorful with a smidge of spice (but not enough to overwhelm little taste buds), and is as versatile as Ranch. It’s awesome with BBQ and burgers, amazing with seafood, and the perfect complement to onion rings, fried mushrooms, or even a simple sandwich. At a glance, the number of ingredients may appear a little overwhelming, but don’t let this intimidate you. Most of the ingredients are things you’d already have around your house, and the few specialty items are ones that will keep for about a year. Plus, it’s a breeze to make, with prep time totaling 10 minutes or less. Kept refrigerated in a sealed mason jar, Comeback Sauce has a storage life of about three to six months, but at our house it is long gone before its expiration date!
