New to the stay-at-home mom gig, she’s mother to a five-year-old wilding and a two-year-old diva. When not trying to herd cats, she runs a doula agency, Journey to Motherhood, and works as a birth doula and childbirth educator. She blogs about life with a husband in the oil field, homeschooling, all things organization, her favorite recipes, and photography tips!I came to San Antonio by way of North Carolina, but I was born and raised on the Southside of Chicago. My husband and I have a proud kindergartner and we recently welcomed a baby girl. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Media Studies and am also an adjunct college professor. Although I live in Cibolo, you can always find me exploring something new in San Antonio. I love trying new coffee shops, restaurants and the many San Antonio festivals. I try to turn as many events as possible into kid-friendly spaces!2013Bridget was born and raised in San Antonio and moved back here after college and law school. Now with her stepkids, rainbow baby, and surprise baby, her family is complete and she is soaking up every minute of motherhood! READ BRIDGET'S POSTS2020I grew up in Dallas, went to college and grad school in the Carolinas (Furman-->Wake Forest) with degrees in art history and ministry/theology. I work for organizations that allow me to do things I care deeply about: advocacy for immigration, public education and religious liberty. We moved to San Antonio in 2012 for my husband to pastor a church here. When we moved here, our two older daughters were babies/toddlers, and we eventually added a third. They are now 5, 8 and 9. We chose to live really close to the church and hit the neighborhood jackpot. I'm a bookworm and always have 2-3 books going at once. I have learned to love good music by osmosis (my husband has great taste!) (my current favs: Brandi Carlile, Lone Bellow), but I'm pretty happy with silence too, since it's hard to come by with small children. We don't have grandparents or immediate family in town, and I'm insanely jealous of those that do. But luckily our friends here have become like family.Contributor and Celebrations CoordinatorCandice Curry is a born and raised San Antonio mother of 6. She left to explore life for a bit in her early 20s but (after soaking up the mountains of Colorado and the joyful weirdness of Austin for a few years), returned to San Antonio to make a career of serving others through a handful of team leadership roles in various industries. Regardless of the occupation, she has been fortunate to always find herself living her purpose: teaching and instilling in others (especially women) that they are capable of achieving the dreams in their hearts. It was in one such role at Whole Foods Market that she met the love of her life at the practically ancient and unmarriable age of 35. (Obviously a ridiculous sentiment, but tell that to an unwed 35 year old.) As she laid eyes on her now wife, she knew instantly that this person would change everything about the trajectory of her future. Five very happy years later, she is a stay-at-home stepmom (lovingly referred to as CaraBee) to two big-hearted, fun-loving, interracial teenage boys. Motherhood came in a different package than it does for many, but Cara knows in the depths of her soul that she has the two kids that were intended for her. Together with her wife, she helps to raise them with their very, very amicable modern family.Chawanna is a native San Antonian enjoying being back home after living in other parts of the U.S., Brazil, and Switzerland. When she's not laughing and joking with her two awesome children and husband, Chawanna develops curriculum for a New England educational nonprofit and serves as Executive Director of Single Seed Enrichment School, Inc., a small local educational nonprofit she founded in 2016. Chawanna's passions span many areas, but K-12 education definitely rules all others. Known as Dr. Chae to her students, families, and colleagues, Chawanna splits her time between her supportive family, volunteering as a K-12 tutor, serving on the Board of Directors as the Curriculum Chair for New Leaders Council-San Antonio, and leading the new Single Seed Micro-school.Before becoming a stay at home mom to 8-year-old John and triplet 4-year-olds Tommy, Teddy and Nate, Christine Cuthbert was an accomplished journalist/columnist in the Chicago suburbs. She and her family moved to San Antonio in 2017 and are loving the laid back Texas life. Follow her family's crazy shenanigans on Instagram at @christiecuthbert2017Cristina was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. As a child, she spent her days doodling unicorns and puppies and she dreamed of one day being an artist. A little more than a year ago, she took a leap to be a full-time artist and she hasn't looked back. Today she is a wife, a mom to two awesome little girls, a muralist, portrait artist, wife, and social media addict. READ CRISTINA'S POSTSDanielle is a minivan-driving, Rick Ross-listening, wannabe Whole 30-eating mama to three little blessings. Born and raised in Florida, she is a Texan by marriage to Zach, whom she wooed with her passion for college football (go, Gators!). Their oldest is seven and rocking an extra chromosome, while their middle daughter is just extra in all things, like the red glitter tutu she insists on wearing 24/7, and their new baby boy is everything she never knew she always wanted. Danielle recently decided she will be on maternity leave for the next 18 years but continues to enjoy her work as a Speech-Language Pathologist in addition to the SAHM position. She is a passionate advocate for individuals with disabilities and enjoys discussions on chakras, faith, and The Walking Dead.Emily lives in the hill country with her husband of over a decade, two young children and an array of animals. Texas has always been home but she loves to escape it( and the heat) frequently. Road trips were the excuse to buy a minivan, even though she still cannot park it in the lines. Emily is passionate about keeping our planet clean and it’s citizens happy, and instilling these values to her children. Happiness for herself is eating good food, playing games and quiet time to read, or at least go to the bathroom alone.Gracie is a wife of five years, mom to an almost one-year-old boy (2019) and a proud Wheaten Terrier dog mom. She is a New Mexico native that prefers a green lifestyle, but she still keeps a tub of Clorox wipes below the kitchen sink to rid of the “really bad germs”. She first moved to San Antonio to attend Trinity University where she achieved a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters in Teaching. Gracie is a former Spanish Immersion teacher turned work-at-home mom currently digging into her clean-crafted wine business. While working from home she still channels her inner teacher into finding the next best thing for her son: ways to stimulate him, help him learn, teach him multiple languages, encourage him to be a healthy eater, etc. She loves reading, running and exploring the vivacious city of San Antonio.Heather was born and raised in San Antonio and became a mom in 2013 and again in 2018. She married a techie and is a bit of a geek herself.Jennifer is a native Texan/San Antonian who spent a decade in Seattle and has never readjusted to the heat. She spends most days puzzling over her boys’ constant states of hunger and their non-stop wrestling. She operates a private practice as a marriage and family therapist, with specialties in traumatic grief, couples, and managing depression/anxiety without medication, which is a nice way to make use of my master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science. She can most often be found on my own back patio with wine and a book, perfecting my status as a world-class procrastinator while ignoring laundry. She's married to her college sweetheart, also a Native Texan; and mom to three boys: two who run and one who soars, ages 13 (deceased), 11 (hungry), and 7 (also hungry).Jenny is a 40-something, married mother of two (Anna, 2007 and Jack, 2009), who migrated to the Hill Country after doing a 14 year stint in Houston. When Jenny isn’t walking her slightly neurotic (and completely beloved) rescued Weimaraner, she enjoys writing, making to-do lists, and folding laundry (and sarcasm). Jenny holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University--Corpus Christi, and completed graduate coursework in Guidance and Counseling. In her previous lives, Jessica has been a college professor, an actor, and a restaurant manager. She feels incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to stay at home with her girls right now while they are young. She is currently in the early stages of turning her obsession with taking pictures of her own children into a modest photography venture, Mewborne Photography.Contributor and Social Media CoordinatorJill is a small-town girl at heart but has loved discovering all San Antonio has to offer since moving here in 2004. She has an M.A. In Linguistics from the University of North Texas, which has aided her very little in convincing her kids they have to wear pants every day. The Army brought Kalie and her family to San Antonio last year and they are enjoying plugging into their church and eating way too many hot tortillas from HEB.Kathy's a native Pittsburgher through and through, but transplanted to Texas with her superhero cape to teach elementary school. She has a five-and-a-half-year-old girl and a two-and-a-half-year-old boy who keep her days full of laughter, glitter, monster trucks, and stuffed animals. As a stay-at-home mama, she is constantly yearning for new ways to engage their minds, hands, and bodies with the city and community around them, while stealing a run and a cup of coffee or two. She can be found at the local library for story time; the park for an afternoon swing; and/or the local splash pad to escape the heat. She's not hard to miss due to her donning of Steelers gear in the fall and Penguins attire in the spring. She welcomes and thrives on new conversations, friendships, and methods of rearing littles.
