Colonial Hills United Methodist School (CHUMS) serves children 18 mos. – Kindergarten. Our goal is to foster your child’s development through a developmentally appropriate curriculum emphasizing hands-on activities and discovery methods of learning. The concept behind Friends of Spare Parts dba Spare Parts was developed in 2010 by Founder and Executive Director, Mary Elizabeth Cantú, as a response to the lack of arts funds and resources in PreK-12 classrooms.
In 2018 Spare Parts became a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization through the Friends of Spare Parts. Spare Parts believes partnership and programs centered on creative reuse practice builds smart, lasting and win/win initiatives. Professional Development Program (RE-Edu), Creative Reuse Education Program (RE-Mix), Spare Parts Exhibitions/Long-term projects (RE-Create) are a few of the creative reuse focused programs and resources offered regularly. As a result, Spare Parts is creating a pathways to reducing landfill tonnage.
Spare Parts inspires and supports the growing San Antonio creative community and our classrooms through environmental accountability. Sustainability, affordability and accessibility to the arts through reuse education is paramount.
At the Spare Parts Center for Creative Reuse you will find a vast assortment of pre-loved craft supplies, teacher supplies, gifts, jewelry, home decor, and much more at prices up to 90% off of retail. Our CTE Programs
Judson ISD offers 22 Career and Technical Education programs of study at our three comprehensive high schools (programs vary by location).
Free Pre-K 3 & 4
Judson ISD will be enrolling 3 and 4-year-olds for our all-day, FREE Pre-K program. Offered at 20 campuses and accepting students from outside Judson ISD! JISD Registration begins February 7th, for the upcoming 2022- 2023 school year.
Year-Round School
Converse Elementary is an Additional Days School Year Campus to better meet the needs of our students (PreK 3 -5th grade). The ultimate goal is to decrease the learning loss from long breaks, such as a traditional summer. The program has many benefits for our students, including having access to a full-time librarian and gifted and talented teacher, additional targeted interventions, and differentiated small group instruction.
Spanish Immersion
The Spanish Immersion Program is designed for English-speaking students who wish to become fluent in Spanish. Students enter the program in first grade. Spanish Immersion teachers follow a scope and sequence for Language Arts that is unique to meet the program’s goals. The scope and sequence for mathematics, science, and social studies match a traditional English-speaking classroom, with the only difference being Spanish as the language of instruction. The inherent nature of these programs creates an active parent-school partnership, which is essential for the success of the program and the student. This program can be found at two of our elementary campuses, Hartman Elementary and Wortham Oaks Elementary.
STEM Programs
Judson ISD is offering STEM programs for students in grades PreK- 12.
