Saint Mary’s Hall is the premier school in San Antonio and provides opportunities that cultivate student passion. From each teachable moment in Montessori to finding a college that’s the right fit, Saint Mary’s Hall advises our students as individuals and creates a culture of trust where every student is known. Our passionate, expert faculty and staff encourage students as they come to know their world through a variety of lenses, guiding their growth as critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers. As students discover their courage in the classroom, their voice on the stage, and their strength on the field, we challenge them to persevere. With a rich, rigorous curriculum, insightful discourse, and expansive opportunities for exploring the world and discovering oneself, Saint Mary’s Hall sends forth confident graduates armed with the skills, knowledge, and self-awareness needed to thrive in college and find fulfillment in life.
The Saint Mary’s Hall Dance Program is a unique home for students who are interested in the study of dance. At SMH, students have the ability to participate in a variety of dance forms from ballet to hip-hop. Each dance student is nurtured by expert faculty to perform at their maximum potential in their school environment where they have the opportunity to regularly perform for their teachers, fellow students, and family members.
Dance at Saint Mary’s Hall provides students with the opportunity to foster their love of dance; participate in creative expression through movement; develop the kinesthetic skills of strength, endurance and grace; cultivate pride and confidence in themselves; progress in their discipline of practice; and become part of a unique community of dance artists.
Saint Mary’s Hall Dance has a long tradition of excellence and strives to develop an appreciation of dance in each and every student. Some of our dancers go onto participate in dance while in college and beyond, but all our dancers hold within their hearts a deep love for perfecting their craft with their fellow dance artists, guest artists, and teachers during their time at Saint Mary’s Hall.

Policies for on-campus education are in place for the safest possible environment in the evolving reality of this pandemic. A temporary distance learning option is included for families who choose to stay home for a longer period. We are prepared to pivot to different learning models as this unpredictable year unfolds.
Being part of a small school with an adaptive cooperative community is a real value in this time of uncertainty and we have unique strengths to cope with this pandemic: a small scale community with small classes; maximized outdoor learning spaces; informed and flexible responses to the pandemic that prioritize the safety of our students; a compassionate community that takes seriously our responsibilities to protect each other. We are uniquely positioned as a family-integrated coop to creatively and constructively respond to contemporary challenges. The Montessori School of San Antonio (MSSA) builds on the philosophical and psychological principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. At MSSA we recognize that development comes through the student’s own activity and that the faculty’s task is to carefully guide that activity within an environment specially prepared according to the student’s particular stage of development.
Montessori at MSSA is an education that is both nurturing and rigorous, respecting each student’s unique pace and style of learning while continually encouraging each child to reach his/her maximum potential. It is an education that addresses the critical integration of knowledge, skills, understanding, and moral action.
