Are you in awe of our finalists for Alamo City’s Amazing Mom contest and having a hard time determining who you will vote for?  Us too!  We’ve spent the last three days introducing you to our finalists – you can see more about each of them here, here and here. We will make your decision a little harder by introducing you to our final nominees today.

Don’t forget, tomorrow voting will open up to YOU!  We want our readers to help us determine who will receive the title of Alamo City’s Amazing Mom.

allisonalderholtAllison Aderholt

Nominated by her friend, Janet Boswell

Janet’s Words: Allison is a single mom of two young precious children, Reid and Gracelyn.  Allison is a woman whose family is of the greatest importance to her and her faith is her foundation.  Allison has a quite and sweet spirit, her smile lights up any room.

Allison was one of the founders of The Sisterhood Project, which gives over $100,000 a year to 3 non-profit foundations that base their missions on women, children and Christianity.  She continues to be highly involved in her home church and is a leader in Bible Study Fellowship.

So is why Allison an amazing mom?  Along with all the accolades I’ve just mentioned, it was around this time last year that Allison’s husband, Clay was killed in an automobile accident.  Life stopped for this precious family, but only for a brief period.  Through Allison’s incredible grief lay her unequivocal ability to allow God to bring her through this dark valley day-by-day and continue to be a witness, not only to all those around her, but also to her children.

As a recent widow myself, Allison has taken numerous opportunities to reach out and let me know how aware she was of my grief, and how she shares my sorrow. She has an incredible gift.

Please carefully consider Allison as your perfect candidate for Alamo City’s Amazing Mom.  No one is more deserving.

KristenPlastinoKristen Plastino-Arnold

Nominated by her friend, Bridget Mimari

Bridget’s Words:  Kristen is a wife, mother to four children, and a well respected full-time physician (Ob-gyn) here in San Antonio.  She is involved in all aspects of her kids’ lives, coaches their sports, and protects Sundays as family time.  My mind went immediately to Kristen for this honor.

Our kids go the same school, play sports together, and have become friends over the last two years.  I witness Kristen’s amazing “mom-ness” on a regular basis and, quite frankly, have learned a great deal from her example.  She appears to have struck a good balance between work and home. All four of her children are wonderful reflections of the two great parents they have: they are respectful, kind, well-liked, and a lot of fun to be around.  Just like their mom!

Kristen, as a heart attack survivor, is also dedicated to the American Heart Association.  She also uses her health care background to give talks to a local middle school. Kristen also serves on the Board of her Church (which happens to be mine as well).

I kid her often about being a “doctor’s wife” (she is that too), but Kristen needs no title.  She is humble and gracious, yet confident and takes charge.  I guess you have to with an army of 4 kids and a dog to manage on top of every thing else!

I don’t know many other moms of 4 that can keep it all together while still working full-time, giving back to the community, and most importantly setting a fantastic example.  If she is ever looking frazzled, I tell her she must keep it together because my husband is watching and I am relying on her example to convince my husband that 4 kids will be just fine!!

peggycarterPeggy Carter

Nominated by Yvette Salazar

Yvette’s Words: Peggy is amazing. She is a military mom, a scout mother to two young boys and a scout mother to her Girl Scout as well. She has served as a wonderful scout master for our son and his troop for 2 years.  Peggy set up camping trips, popcorn sales, cookie sales, lesson plans, family trips, and more and has always had a graceful and dignified attitude through and through.

From helping her own children with basic things to scouting and more, I am always impressed with how incredible her ability to make things look easy is.

Not only is Peggy a wonderful mom but also a incredible role model to so many young children as well.
