There aren’t many opportunities for San Antonio fathers and sons to attend a special event catered to just them, which is why we are thrilled to be partnering with St. PJ’s to help spread the word about the first annual My Hero & Me event! This fun afternoon on Sunday, June 14, will bring together fathers and sons for a bonding experience created just for dads and their boys.
Much like St. PJ’s successful fall fundraiser, My Princess & Me, My Hero & Me raises funds crucial to supporting St. PJ’s Children’s Home. St. Peter-St. Joseph Children’s Home, lovingly referred to as St. PJ’s, provides a safe, nurturing community for children and families to heal in body, mind, and spirit and become successful adults by breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect. A staple in the San Antonio community, St. PJ’s has had a positive effect on the lives of thousands of Texas children.
So how can you be a HERO?
1. Attend the event! Purchase tickets for you and your son (or your husband and son) to attend. My Hero & Me takes place on Sunday, June 14, from 2:00–5:00 P.M. at St. PJ’s Children’s Home Campus, 919 Mission Road. Heroes, hamburgers, and fun competitions, along with cool reptiles from the San Antonio Zoo, brain games from Bricks Academy, a shooting gallery and duck calls from the National Wildlife Turkey Federation, “touch a tank” from the U. S. Army, chemistry experiments with the Southwest Research Institute, a visit from Batman and friends, an obstacle course, food, a DJ, and more, will have the men and boys in your life walking away with memories to last a lifetime!
2. Support one of the League of Heroes Teams! Help father-son teams’ fundraising efforts by donating to a team. The top fundraiser will be named 2015 Hero of the Year! Who will you support?
3. Purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win amazing prizes including autographed framed Spurs camo jerseys from Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, or Kawhi Leonard, an iPad Air 2, an Xbox One 500 GB Halo, a family-friendly, three-hour fishing charter, and more!
