San Antonio Moms’ Top Picks at Costco

Oh Costco, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways…

It’s no secret that moms LOVE Costco, so when City Moms Blog Network announced that we’ll be teaming up with Costco for the upcoming Costco Mom Hour: A Holiday Shopping Event, the moms of San Antonio rejoiced! All three San Antonio locations (NW San Antonio, Sonterra Park and Selma) will be opening their doors an hour early for a special shopping event just for Alamo City Moms Blog readers. And not only that, but they’ll have breakfast…and coffee…and membership specials…and goodie bags for attendees…and kids are welcome! Can I get an amen?!

Our team was so thrilled about this upcoming event that we started discussing our favorite Costco items, and because we love you all so much, we wanted to share our team’s top picks of Costco items:

Kirkland Signature Diapers and Wipes

Not only do you get like a bajillion diapers and wipes per purchase, but they are uber cheap compared to competitors’. Better yet, the wipes aren’t slimy, dripping wet, or overly smelly like wipes often can be. Some of our contributors became Costco members for the sole purpose of diaper purchases. Now that’s a good diaper!

Household Items

Kirkland Signature paper towels and toilet paper ranks high on the list for many of our team members. Some of our other favorite household items from Costco include Kirkland Signature laundry detergent and detergent pods, vitamins, pillows, towels, and throw blankets.

Free Samples

A few of us may or may not head to Costco during snack time or lunchtime just to feed our kids. Costco’s snack fairies seem to be around every corner handing out everything from pulled pork to hummus to pomegranate juice to chocolate-covered pretzel bites. But best of all is that your family can actually taste a product before you purchase it! Gone are the days of buying an entire box of snacks that you later discover your children CANNOT. STAND. Nope, thanks to Costco’s samples, you can guarantee that your kiddos will enjoy that large box of dried fruit slices!

Dinner—Done!

You know those nights when you have absolutely no idea what you’re going to cook for dinner? Those are the nights you can turn to Costco! Our team particularly loves Kirkland Signature chicken tortilla soup, Sukhi’s heat & serve Indian food entrees, and frozen seafood like the Kirkland Signature frozen marinated wild Alaska salmon. And during certain holidays like Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day, Costco offers holiday-themed tortellini. Talk bout making your kids happy! When you are in the mood to whip up dinner, Costco has a ton of staples that our team members love, like Kirkland Signature shredded parmigiano reggiano, Kirkland Signature basil pesto, Kirkland Signature EVOO and balsamic vinegar, big tubs of coconut oil, organic ground beef, and organic coconut flour.

Snacks Galore

Topping our team’s Costco shopping lists are snacks such as giant bags of Smart Pop, Pirate’s Booty, Hail Merry tartlets, and Nichols Farms pistachios. You can stock up on Goldfish, fruit snacks, Cliff Bars, Lara Bars, and applesauce. Kirkland Signature organic tortilla chips are super tasty, and Costco has a killer pumpkin bread mix.

Produce is also high on our Costco shopping lists, including apples, berries, asparagus, cucumbers, spinach, broccoli, apples, avocados, and bananas.

Photo Lab

You might not have realized you can get your holiday cards and birthday invitations at incredible prices from the photo lab. Plus, Costco’s picture printing is so inexpensive, you’ll want to print all of those thousands of pictures taking up space on your phone.

Miscellaneous Purchases

With everything Costco has to offer, we could never fit ALL of their steals into a single guide, but here is a handful of other favorites our team deemed worthy of mentioning. Kirkland Signature’s men’s dress shirts are both great quality and price. You can fully outfit your children with their amazing prices on PJs, coats, play clothes, and party clothes. We particularly love when they have Carter’s or Stride Rite brands available.

Need birthday presents and Christmas gifts? Costco is a go-to spot for gift-buying. Whether you’re searching for electronics, books, or toys, their selections can’t be beat!

And we couldn’t forget to mention Costco’s bakery! Their birthday cakes are super cute and delish. Specifically, the white cake with vanilla mousse layers feeds about 40 people and costs only $18. Can we say awesome?!
