We Love Our Team! A Look Back at the Archives

People ask how Brooke and I met and, ironically enough, the answer is that we met through a blog.  I had seen Brooke’s blog pop up on the side of friend’s blog under the title “Blogs I Love” and I ended up loving her sense of humor, style of writing, and her honest take on motherhood.  So when I bit the bullet and decided to join the City Moms Blog Network with a San Antonio site, I knew I needed a partner. I emailed her to see if she had any interest in participating in this new venture. I can remember where I was sitting when I nervously hit send, likely because I didn’t want her to think I was some sort of random creeper that had been reading her blog and knew her kids’ names (which truthfully, I was and I did).  Long story short, we ended up talking on the phone for awhile and have endured many bumps, curves, bridges, and high rises on this road we call Alamo City Moms Blog.  Without getting too cheesy, she’s the ying to my yang, and I really do think there was divine intervention in our internet-based meeting. There is NO way ACMB would be what it is today without Brooke.

There are so many ways I want to thank Brooke, but the one thing I keep thinking about is her amazing heart.  Not only does she put 100% into any project she takes on, she is constantly thinking of others.  Ways to connect people.  Ways to help people.  Ways to make things better.   She is a born leader, which is evident through her work with the Junior League of San Antonio (she can organize like no other and dominates in all aspects of her board position), and she has a way with words that makes people devour her posts.

My dear friend, Brooke, thank you for your patience over the past year and for continuing to inspire, motivate, and humor me as we continue down this path our our little “moms blog”.  This is one of my favorite posts from you because it is just so beautifully written and encompasses so many emotions of what motherhood is. Cheers to the year ahead!

Don’t Let Me Forget ~ Looking Back On A Difficult Pregnancy

Lindsay

If you meet me, it’s pretty evident how much I love this little ol’ website by the fact that I simply can’t stop talking about it. Seriously, it’s kind of annoying. But truth be told, this little ol’ website wouldn’t even be a twinkle in my eye if it wasn’t for my other half, Lindsay.  Lindsay, a native New Orleans gal, read and followed New Orleans Moms Blog. She just knew that San Antonio moms could use a place to connect, to hear a voice that sounded like their own, to have a resource that would bring moms together both online and at fun events, to find a team of women that would be a voice for the women in the city they lived in. And boy was she right!

From the moment we talked, Lindsay and I both had a common vision for Alamo City Moms Blog, and each time we sit down to discuss ACMB and plan something new for our readers, we continue to be giddy with excitement. My fabulous counterpart keeps our online content in order, makes sure our t’s are crossed and our i’s are dotted, ensures our line up is set to perfection each week, is our technical guru, and scours the city to keep our calendar up to date for moms wanting to be in-the-know….not to mention all of the other little tasks that go along with making Alamo City Moms Blog a great website. But did you know during this last year, Lindsay has also worked full time as a first grade teacher? And moved into a new house? And managed her Rodan & Fields business? And had a newborn? And raised her precious three year old {who is hysterical by the way}? Seriously, she works tirelessly to keep her many balls in the air and does it with a cool attitude and calm demeanor.

I can get a little….worked up about things. Call me Type A but Lindsay is zen is the perfect balance to my hyperactivity. She keeps me smiling with her dry sense of humor and she might just have the best one liners of anyone I know. Lindsay is faithful, hard-working and someone I guarantee you’d want to sit down with over a glass of wine with. It’s been a pleasure gaining, not only a business partner, but a true friend over this last year and I’m so thankful to have Lindsay in my life.

Thank you for trusting me, for putting up with my cray-cray and for loving Alamo City Moms Blog as much as I do.

My favorite post from Lindsay was one that resonated with new moms around the city and a great reminder to all of us:
