Happy Holidays from Alamo City Moms Blog!

Happy Holidays from ACMB!

Wow! It’s hard to believe that we are wrapping up another wonderful year over here at Alamo City Moms Blog. It seems like just yesterday we were recapping 2013.

We started out the year on the right foot—literally—with our Hit the Ground Running series, dedicated to running mamas in San Antonio. We went on to discuss date nightsstaycation ideas, and the best places for free and cheap eats for kids. We tackled the taboo topic of sex after children and dove into the real world of extended nursingbody-shaming, IUDs, and getting your body back after baby. We honored local parents with our Super Mom and Super Dad contests. Our first birthday was celebrated in style with many of you joining us at our Birthday Bash. We added some amazing new team members and discussed everything from hiking in San Antonio to whether Schlitterbahn with young children is, in fact, a good idea. Controversial topics in parenting were addressed in our Perspectives in Parenting series, and we hoped to provide lots of useful information about everything from the STAAR test and being a working mom to the emotional roller coasters of infertility, Sensory Processing Disorder, the NICU, and autism. We kept it light, though, too, and talked about what new moms REALLY need to receive at their baby showers, having a mom BFF, mean girls, and why to not hate on the Pinterest mom. But we are just getting started and have many fantastic things planned for the year ahead!

We are truly thankful for you, our readers, and our wonderful contributing team of moms. We wish you a relaxing and wonderful holiday break. We’ll see you in 2015!

  1. Merry christmas and Happy Holidays to you all. I flew into San Antonio and began immediately swiping my card to pay for whatever it was my family or friends needed . Whether it be a lunch they could not afford to take, a phone replacement , changing a starter on a vehicle , or changing brakes. I do this for friends and family because sometimes around the holidays finances can be tight and spending that extra money means struggling in the coming new year. So it was a great surprise to me that when stopping at a car wash to clean and vacuum my mothers car, I came across a bag of quarters with “alamocitymomsblog ” and the names of two special people , Taylor and Harper. It’s been a while since someone has done something for me so it put a huge smile on my face and I looked around for someone to thank. I started to think about it a little more, as I was finishing up cleaning the car. Not only did you both make my day by giving me a free car wash but you also helped me complete a good deed for my mother. So THANK YOU!

    • Hi Chris,

You’re so very welcome! I’m Taylor, ACMB’s editor, and Harper is my five-year-old daughter. I’m so glad the car wash quarters put a smile on your face. What an awesome son you are to be out washing your mother’s car right before Christmas!

But really, I’m the one who should be thanking you–for taking the time to post this comment. One of my goals in doing this project was to show my daughter that it doesn’t take much to give back and make people’s lives a little better–just kindness and a little bit of time. You have helped me to show her that we all have the power to make the world a better place, even if it’s in the smallest of ways, and I can’t thank you enough for that. I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays. Thanks again!

      –Taylor
