Shopping Small in San Antonio: Family Friendly Holiday Markets

Shopping with locally owned businesses, especially at seasonal markets, is such a great way to get to know the community you live in. The hidden talent of the ‘side hustle’ a beloved teacher shows off once a year, the artist who might usually only sell through galleries, the handcrafted, small batch, unique and beautiful goods that are found at ‘pop up’ markets are on display and so fun to see.

Many of these markets are kid and family friendly (though some do not allow strollers or wagons because of space issues making them a safety hazard- so check before you go!) and I’ve found a fantastic experience to help my daughter budget and shop for Christmas presents for our family and her friends. She saves for her friend gifts and we give her a budget for family gifts – and enforce that budget because she can be REALLY generous when it’s not “her” money. I’ve found a list or ideas and budget breakdown to be helpful and we take it shopping with us on a clipboard to keep track of who she’s purchased for and what she’s spent.

Here are some Holiday Markets popping up around San Antonio (and the surrounding areas) in the next few weeks. We do our best to recommend family friendly events, but as ‘family friendly’ means something a little different to each of us, please scope out the info the market organizers share before you commit to going!
