Valentine’s Day Events in and Around San Antonio

Valentine’s Day can bring a lot of emotions. There are some people who love it while there are also others who love to hate it. Regardless of where your feelings lie on the red-roses-and-hearts-through-arrows holiday, there are plenty of exciting things to do in San Antonio during the month of February. Heart String Art at Home Depot

Date/Time: Saturday, February 1, 2020; 9:00 A.M.–12:00 P.M.
Location: Home Depots in San Antonio
Cost: Free

Check the schedule posted in the Home Depot store closest to your house for seasonal kid-friendly activities. During the month of February, children can have fun practicing sanding, nailing, and painting a heartstring craft to take home and proudly display for years to come. 

Pony Express Love Letters

Date/Time: Saturday, February 1, 2020; 12:00–4:00 P.M.
Location: Briscoe Western Art Museum
Cost: Free

Give your children the opportunity to “Spread the Love” by creating handwritten letters to be delivered courtesy of the Briscoe. Bonus: Members of the San Antonio Calligraphers’ Guild will be available to address the envelopes.

Southtown Arts District 1st and 2nd Saturday Markets

Date/Time: Saturday, February 1 and 8, 2020; 10:00 A.M.–4:00 P.M.
Location: The Artisan
Cost: Free

If you’re looking to avoid the typical chocolate and flowers Valentine’s Day gifts, head to Southtown to support local artisans. You’re likely to find something unique to gift everyone on your Valentine’s gift list.

Beer, Bacon, and Bingo

Date/Time: Every Thursday in February; 7:00 P.M.
Location: Alamo Beer Company
Cost: Free

This event doesn’t have to be limited to February/Valentine’s Day, but with that trifecta what kind of night out could be better? This event takes place every Thursday and if you show up at 6:30 P.M., you can take a free tour of the brewery before kicking butt at Bingo with a locally-crafted brewski in hand.

Galentine’s Day

Date/Time: Thursday, February 6, 2020; 6:30–9:30 P.M.
Location: Serendipity at Fiorella
Cost: $35 per ticket with an additional cookie set for $15.

Enjoy a fun evening out with your gal pals decorating iced sugar cookies, sipping on some bubbly, taking some Galentine selfies, and munching on some delicious snacks. The deadline to purchase tickets is February 4th. 

San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo

Date/Time: February 6–23, 2020; varying hours
Location: AT&T Center
Cost: Varied

This is not your traditional Valentine’s Day celebration but it’s a San Antonio favorite. If you want a night out to watch some rodeo events and a concert or want to spend a day as a family at the carnival and fairgrounds, the rodeo appeases to all ages and budgets. Valentine’s Day Baking with Chef Sofia

Date/Time: Thursday, February 6, 2020; 7:00–9:00 P.M.
Location: San Antonio Botanical Garden
Cost: $60 per person or $54 for members of SABOT; minimum age is 16

Spend your evening with Chef Sofia Tejada, of Eilan Hotel and Spa, learning how to make delicious Valentine’s Day treats with your sweetheart, for your sweetheart, or to enjoy all yourself!

Bestie Bash

Date/Time: Saturday, February 8, 2020; 12:00–2:00 P.M.
Location: Rolling Oaks Mall
Cost: Free

At this event, you can craft to your heart’s desire making homemade valentines, friendship bracelets, and more. Once you’ve made the best gifts around, you can head to the food court and shop to drop.

CIA Family Funday

Date/Time: Saturday, February 8, 2020; 9:00 A.M.–10:15 A.M.
Location: The Culinary Institute of America
Cost: $30 for a parent and child (age 4+); $15 for any additional attendees

If you have a child that loves cupcakes, this is the perfect event for your family. You can spend an hour of the morning at the Culinary Institute of America learning how to decorate beautiful baked treats and homemade sprinkles are definitely included. 

Galentine’s Day Party

Love Note Holder at Lowe’s

Be My Valentine 5K Run/Walk

Grab all your Valentines, throw on your best cupid costume, and get your fitness on at the Be My Valentine 5K Run/Walk or the Be My Other Half ½ Marathon. 

Whiskey is My Valentine

This fun event features Crafthouse Studios for a fun afternoon of glass etching. You can choose from over 20 designs to create your own set of etched glasses. Tickets include all materials, two hours of instruction, and a drink ticket to enjoy some hand-crafted brew from Ranger’s Creek.

Cocktails & Culture: Cowboys and Campfires

Location: The Witte Museum

If you’re interested in getting out for a date night or just an evening with friends but if you also want to avoid the typical candy hearts, roses, and cupid mush, this event is perfect for you! You can make this an evening out with your girlfriends or as the cherry on top of your Valentine’s Day date night. Just be prepared to laugh your pants off as Heather McDonald holds no bars in her comedic performance of the Juicy Scoop

Valentine’s Day Dinner & Drinks

Grab your valentine and head over to Ranger Creek if you want to be wined and dined by Chef Juan Cardona of Chef Junction. You and your date will enjoy dinner and a special tapping of Hibiscus Love Struck. The purchase of two tickets secures a dinner for two, four drink tickets and a box of chocolates. You have the option to upgrade your tickets if you want to sit in the Rack House with live music.

Wild at Heart

Location: San Antonio Zoo

The San Antonio Zoo will provide you and your valentine a special 4-course Valentine’s Day dinner as you are transported to the riverbanks of Africa. Gracie
Gracie is a wife of six years, mom to an almost three year-old boy, a newborn baby girl (2021) and a proud Wheaten Terrier dog mom. She is a New Mexico native that prefers a green lifestyle, but she still keeps a tub of Clorox wipes below the kitchen sink to rid of the “really bad germs”. She first moved to San Antonio to attend Trinity University where she achieved a Bachelors in Sociology and a Masters in Teaching.
