Free Your Inner Artist: Pop In and Paint at Painting with a Twist

Painting with a Twist is an Alamo City Moms partner and this article is paid advertising for Painting with a Twist at the Alley on Bitters.

Sometimes when I scroll Instagram I’ll catch a glimpse of an artist’s studio—the stacks of canvases, the paint-splattered floor, the seemingly endless supply of paint—and I get a fleeting desire to clear out our guest room and make it a painting studio. Just one problem—I’m not a painter but I LOVE the opportunity to paint. Just not enough to convert a room and invest in the tools.

Pop In and Paint hours at Painting with a Twist in the Alley on Bitters make my painterly dreams come to life. It’s exactly what it sounds like. You show up (no reservation is needed) and choose a spot, grab a canvas and paint, and go to town waking up your inner artist. Don’t fret if you are more of a paint-by-number kind of painter. The kind staff will provide you or your kiddo(s) with a pre-sketched canvas from some set options.

Maybe you’re just looking for a place to take the kids for an afternoon out of the heat (or whatever crazy weather we get)? Painting with a Twist has wifi available, so—while they encourage you to pick up a paintbrush, too—you could actually get some work done while you’re there. The hours are plentiful (Tuesday: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.) and you’re welcome to make a reservation for a specific time to ensure your materials are ready and your table is reserved.

Pop In and Paint isn’t just for kids—adults are welcomed with open arms, too! (I’m so tempted to spend a lunch break painting every now and then.) Paint whatever you like or use one of their inspiration paintings as a starting point for your masterpiece. Painting with a Twist in the Alley on Bitters is also BYOB.

Alamo City Moms recently hosted a Rendezvous with PWAT and invited our readers to join us for an afternoon of painting and fun. Catch a glimpse here and then plan to Pop in and Paint with your friends or kids, or maybe just for some quiet time alone to pretend you’re an Insta-famous artist in your private studio.
