Five Indoor Play Spaces That Aren’t Trampoline Parks

My kids have nothing but love for all things trampoline park. (Here’s a list of some great ones.) I, on the other hand, have to give myself a mental pep talk every single time we go. Maybe it’s chasing kids across a warehouse of trampolines. Maybe it’s constantly worrying who will be the first to break a bone. Whatever the reason for my trampoline trepidation, I’ve been grateful to discover some new indoor play options in San Antonio. So when the weather isn’t your friend (too hot, too cold, too rainy, too outdoorsy), give one of these inside adventures a try!

Arrows Active Play Park

Arrows Active Play Park has something to make everyone in the family smile. The “Maze” (aka: sweet, gigantic playground) has three levels and includes a ball blast arena, racer slides, and warrior course. A separate toddler area for guests ages three and under ensures that littles can play safely. One of my favorite things about Arrows is the thoughtful details for the parents. If you need/want to play on the Maze with your kids, you can do so without crawling because it has a six-foot clearance throughout. If you need to work while the kids play, you can because there’s free Wi-Fi. Grab a coffee at the cafe and chill at one of the tables conveniently placed next to the playground

Maui Maui Kids Play Island

Maui Maui Kids Play Island

Maui Maui Kids Play Island gives you a playground and an arcade—all with an island theme. Kids can enjoy exploring the multi-level playground that includes tunnels, obstacles, and even a pirate ship ball pit. If they aren’t ready for that big of an adventure, the toddler area provides the right kind of fun for littles. Kiddos can also try their luck at the arcade after purchasing tokens to play. There are opportunities to win tickets and choose prizes, as well. Snacks and drinks are available at the concession stand. There are several picnic tables located nearby, as well as a number of smaller tables adjacent to the playground and arcade.

Rush Fun Park

My kids attended a birthday party at Rush Fun Park and haven’t stopped talking about it since. Who can blame them? It’s a playground and trampoline park all rolled into one. I know, I know. I said no trampolines, but hear me out. Most of these trampolines have a specific purpose like dodgeball or basketball. There’s also a three-story playground to explore, 15 climbing challenges to conquer, and an extreme obstacle course to dominate. The “Lil’ Kidz Zone” is perfect for little ones and everyone can refuel at the Snack Shack when needed. Rush Fun Park has two locations in San Antonio.

Kids Empire Indoor Playground

Kids Empire Indoor Playground is a colorful play area sure to keep kids moving! The playground has several levels and areas for climbing, spinning, sliding, and conquering obstacles. A few other unique play options include building in the block arena, taking one of the ride-on toys for a spin, playing in the soccer arena, and busting a move on the dance floor. The Tots area has plenty of age-appropriate play for younger visitors to enjoy. Once they’ve worked up an appetite from playing, guests can buy snacks and drinks at the snack bar.

We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym

We Rock the Spectrum Kid’s Gym has two locations offering playtime with an inclusive philosophy. Not one, not two, but TWELVE pieces of specialized sensory equipment make this the perfect place for ALL kids to play. Guests can have a blast on the zip line, zip box & slide, crash pit, trampoline, tunnel, carpet swing, hammock swing, climbing structure, bolster swing, rope bridge, and more!

Whitney
When Whitney fell in love with a handsome Texan, she just knew that someday they would call Texas home. Her three favorite things about San Antonio are the tacos, the family-friendly feel, and the school her children attend--Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children. Whitney is a former ninth grade English teacher and proud mama of two redheads nicknamed GingerSnap (daughter born in 2014) and GingerDude (son born in 2017). Her son is deaf and has bilateral cochlear implants. Sunshine Cottage provided all the tools needed to turn GingerDude into a little chatterbox and Whitney into the hearing loss/listening and spoken language advocate that she is. When she isn’t volunteering at Sunshine Cottage, Whitney spends her time serving in organizations at church, spreading awareness and encouragement on Instagram, and keeping the Weaver household in working order. She tries to make time each day to go for a run and her favorite thing to do on a Saturday is hike at a nearby state park with her family.
