13th Floor Haunted House
Through Oct. 31
One of the top five most terrifying haunted houses as ranked by “USA Today,” the 13th Floor Haunted House is marking 13 years of scaring San Antonio. You can also do an escape room onsite, as well as ax throwing (to help you improve your aim for the next zombie apocalypse, of course), or grab drinks at Bar 13, all located at 13th Floor.
Howl-O-Scream
Through Oct. 30
Things get creepy at SeaWorld, where Howl-O-Scream takes over the park. There are six free (with park admission purchase) haunted houses for you to enjoy as you roam the park (two new ones include The Cursed Chasm and the Dis-Assembly Line), along with eight “terror-tories” throughout the park where you’ll find scary souls with acrobatic abilities and sirens attempting to lure visitors into the water. And there’s Coaster Creep, where you can ride with creepy creatures. That’s all paired with Halloween-themed bars and fun throughout the park.
Take note of their warning: At 7:00 p.m., the park’s scare level increases from haunting to horrifying, which may be too intense for young children. Howl-O-Scream is not recommended for children under the age of 13 or the faint of heart. (But if you want to have some family-friendly fun during daylight hours, you can check out Spooktacular with a Spookly the Square Pumpkin maze included, also through Oct. 30.)
Fright Fest
Through Oct. 31
A perennial favorite for fright lovers, Six Flags Fiesta Texas is scaring everyone again with Fright Fest. Recommended for ages 13+, it features six haunted houses and six scare zones, and of course, things like the new Dr. Diabolical’s Cliffhanger ride, all enjoyed at night. This year’s fest includes Trapped, where visitors have to figure out how to get through an array of paths and a haunted voodoo shop. And as if high school reunions aren’t scary enough, there’s a high school reunion-themed zombie attraction to enjoy.
You can also enjoy German-inspired food and drinks at the park’s Oktoberfest festival, open weekends through October 30.
Note: If you want family-friendly fun, enjoy the Kids Boo Fest during Six Flags’ daytime hours, when children under 12 can wear their costumes and enjoy the fun.
Festival of the Dead Artisan Market and Masquerade
Oct. 29
Known as one of the most haunted places in the United States, Victoria’s Black Swan Inn is a destination for all things spooky, hosting tours and events year-round that draw in paranormal fans and ghost lovers. (And note: “Victoria’s” is part of the name, not the location. Victoria’s Black Swan Inn is right here in San Antonio!) Enjoy a very adult night out, including a burlesque show, during the Festival of the Dead Artisan Market and Masquerade.
Haunted Oaks
Through Oct. 31
Enjoy a haunted experience at Rolling Oaks Mall thanks to Haunted Oaks. And if you’re looking for the perfect horror selfie, visit Horror Pix, also at Rolling Oaks Mall. There are 13 horror-filled scenes ready for you to snap and share.
