San Antonio moms, the wait is over! Last weekend celebrated the long awaited grand opening of the newest gem in town that your kids are sure to adore —Mitchell’s Landing! Nestled in the beautiful Classen-Steubing Ranch Park off Hardy Oak Parkway, this pirate-themed inclusive playground is a must-visit for families. It was thoughtfully designed to welcome kids of all abilities, offering sensory-rich activities, adventurous play zones, and multigenerational fun. From the iconic pirate ship to an ADA-accessible roller slide and scavenger hunts, every corner is filled with imagination and inclusivity.
Mitchell’s Landing isn’t just a playground—it’s a heartfelt tribute to Mitchell Chang, a three-year-old boy whose love of pirates inspired this magical space. The Mitchell Chang Foundation, led by his family, partnered with the city to create this $3 million wonder, ensuring that it is a place where all kids and families can build joyful memories. The playground features personal touches, like Mitchell’s favorite orange flowers and his handwriting on the entrance sign, which make it a truly special spot.
Alamo City Moms were included in a special “pre-opening” opportunity to play, and I am here to tell you that the playground is absolutely incredible! My three daughters loved all of the climbing activities, but the fan favorite was definitely the rotating swings.
