The animals, the smells, the chaos—the San Antonio Zoo offers plenty to keep your wild ones busy! Sometimes, though, it’s fun to have a game or purpose to focus on while walking around.
Peek-a-Zoo is a simple animal matching or “scavenger hunt” game that’s suitable for children as young as two years old. When I was teaching, I liked to use this with my younger classes to work on reading and letter recognition (e.g., “Can you find the rhino? It starts with an ‘r’!”), and my older classes got into it as a competition.
My kiddo enjoys “hunting” for the next animal and marking them off of her game board. I hope your little (and maybe not-so-little) ones enjoy searching and finding all the animals at the Zoo!
I printed these on card stock and tied a crayon (doesn’t need sharpening or a lid!) to a clipboard with the animal search attached.
The blank spaces are choose-your-own, and if there are animals on the card not living at your zoo/not out that day, make those spaces kid’s choice, mom’s whim, an animal that starts or ends with the same letter, or whatever you can think of.
