Just Between Friends Consignment {Sponsored}

JPG_-_RGB_200dpi_Color_LogoHave you ever found yourself standing in your child’s room, staring at a pile of outgrown clothes and wondering, “What in the world am I going to do with all of these?”  What about that Bumbo seat that your precious bean used for a few months, only to be strategically piled in your garage with the swing, exersaucer, high chair, and other baby accoutrements that are no longer needed?

Enter Just Between Friends Consignment.  This fabulous company was founded in 1997 by two mommies looking for a way to dress their children in cute, quality clothes without breaking the bank.  What started out as a small in home gathering has turned into a nationwide series of sales events focused on helping moms save money. We are lucky enough to have local mom, Jen Hodo, leading the way here in San Antonio, and we are going to answer a few questions to help you learn more about the upcoming sale that can help put a little extra money in your pocket by selling or shopping at their upcoming sale!

I have items I want to sell. What do I need to do to participate?

The first thing that you need to do is decide what you want to consign.  Look at your items and follow the guidelines provided by Just Between Friends.  We love how they have so many suggestions for pricing, preparation, and items that are in demand in our area! From there, follow the instructions for creating an account.  This awesome and organized system shows you how to do everything as far as tagging the items you are going to sell. Instructions for how to do this yourself can be found on the website.  You set the price, you set whether it goes half price or not, and you select whether it is donated at the end. You print your tags, attach them, and voila! You are ready to drop off your items to Jen on October 8th and 9th. Don’t have time to spend tagging but still want the benefit of participating in this sale that brings in mommies from all over San Antonio? No problem.  You can sign up for Valet Tagging, or having Just Between Friends tag things for you, a genius idea that takes the leg work out of consigning for lazy  busy moms like myself!

Show me the money!  You get 65% of the selling price less a $10 consignor fee.  If you help at the sale as a JBF BFF volunteer, you get an additional 5% of your sales.  If you volunteer at this event and the next event, your $10 consignor fee is waived. Just Between Friends will send you a check within 2 weeks and include a donation receipt for your records.  You can print a sales report to show the items donated. Interested in learning more about consigning and exactly how everything works? Make sure to check out this comprehensive list of FAQ’s.

When and where does this event happen?

This year’s fall event is happening Thursday, October 10 through Saturday, October 12 at the Kendall County Fairgrounds in Boerne.   Pre-shopping for consignors and volunteers is on the evening of Wednesday, October 9, before the sale is open to the public.  On Saturday, items are half price and the admission fee is waved.

649bde9e-0de6-41e2-a0c3-dd6c1c0537cd-NormalI’m interested in attending to find some sweet bargains. What do I need to do?

I understand, all of this talk about discounted clothes and gear has your mind turning about scoping out some great shopping deals in a nice retail environment.  What’s even better is that Just Between Friends takes prides in focusing on safety and recalls to help ensure that they are only selling safe products for your kids!  If you want to attend just as a shopper, you can purchase an admission ticket for the days that are open to all mommies for $3.00. (If you are joining us at our Moms Night Out event this Thursday, you will receive a free admission for you and a friend in your swag bag!)  Are you the type of person that wakes up at 3am on Black Friday wanting to find the best of the best at the cheapest price?  You can sign up to be a volunteer as a BFF and you’ll earn automatic rights to shopping before anyone else can! Can’t be a BFF and still want first access? You can purchase a VIP shopping ticket to get a head start!  Also, follow Just Between Friends on Facebook for up to date news about items for purchase and information about the upcoming event.

Is Just Between Friends involved in our community?

One of the coolest things about Just Between Friends is that 100% of the money that is made through admission fees is donated to Hill Country Daily Bread Ministries, which has provided household items to local families in seven different San Antonio counties.  To date, JBF has donated over $5,000 and over $90,000 worth of items to help families in our area. I really love this aspect because this really is like having a garage sale, except everything is organized for you and you are able to help others at the same time. Definitely the best of both worlds!

  1. Really excited for this, with a baby boy on the way! I don’t think he’ll be keen on wearing his big sister’s hand-me-downs! I’m also on the lookout for a jogging stroller (maybe a double?) and a glider/ottoman for his nursery.

  2. This is awesome! I have never bothered to cosign before, because it always seemed not worth the hassle. I just signed up on JBF. One question, though: the event referred to in the article is not coming up on the website. Am I missing something?
