My goodness, we made it through the first month of the year. That was the longest January I can remember! While February may be a shorter month, it’s packed with cool events. So much so I had a hard time narrowing down my list for this post. February is Black History Month and San Antonio has quite a few related offerings for kids to expand their knowledge and cultural experiences.

Family-Friendly Community Drum Circle | FREE!
Facilitated by Jorge Ochoa, drumming circles from all over the city are invited to participate. Family Flashlight Night | Tickets: $12-15, Children under 3 FREE!
Bring your flashlight and experience the nocturnal side of the garden with the family. Explore night-blooming plants, find your way through the light maze, and get a taste of delicious CHEF recipes. Activities provided by the Bat Conservation International, Compost Queens, Eco Centro, and San Antonio River Foundation, and performance by Acrobatic Gymnastics of San Antonio. Food will be available for purchase from Mi Taquito SA food truck.

5th Annual Black History for Children Book Exhibit | FREE!
Increase your children’s knowledge of Black History and encourage the development of good reading habits and skills. Black history books for children will be on display along with a recommended reading list.
