Brunch Spots in San Antonio

Brunch is my love language. I can delve into some eggs Benedict or taste pancakes pretty much anytime someone even begins to mention eating out. It takes some serious self-control not to eat out every day of the week, but come Saturday and Sunday all bets are off and luckily the brunch game in San Antonio is STRONG. The only struggle I have when it comes to brunch is deciding where to go, so I decided to poll our contributors and readers and give you a go to spot for all things brunch (mostly focusing on small, locally-owned restaurants).

I’ve updated each location with information on whether they are open and what they are serving due to the current shelter-in-place order due to COVID-19 (* indicates they are open for business).

Saturday & Sunday Brunch

* Alamo Biscuit Co.

9630 Huebner Rd. Ste 103 SATX, 78240 ● (210) 265-5585

Well-known for their flaky biscuits and panaderia goods; a perfect brunch spot you can enjoy any day of the week.

*Offering special family meals for four and select items

* Bakery Lorraine

306 Pearl Pkwy, Ste 110 SATX 78215

A personal favorite on a weekday or amidst the bustle of the Pearl Farmer’s Market. Their pastries taste as good as they look and I highly recommend the crouque madame or quiche d’jour. Click the link for info about the other locations in town.

*Open for pickup or delivery and currently offering “emergency cookies” to support the employees unable to work during the pandemic.

* Boiler House

312 Pearl Pkwy, Bldg 3 SATX 78215 ● (210) 354-4644

Another awesome spot at the Pearl. We’ve stopped by for weekend brunch and dinner and both were delicious.

*Offering specific dinner items for delivery/take-out every night from 4pm-9pm.

* Candlelight Coffeehouse

3011 N St. Mary’s SATX 78212 ● (210) 738-0099

* Cappy’s

5011 Broadway, San Antonio, TX 78209 ● (210) 828-9669

An Alamo Heights favorite, this place is packed anytime I’ve visited and they have something for everyone on the menu. I’d suggest making a reservation for this one.

*Open for curbside pick-up, check the website for daily dinner options. Open from daily 4:00-8:00pm.

Eastside Kitchenette

2119 N Interstate 35 SATX 78208 ● (210) 507-2568

Close to downtown, but away from the hustle and bustle of the River Walk. Niki said, “We went there for the first time a couple weeks ago. It was sooo good and I can’t wait to go back!” Only open Monday-Saturday, so don’t plan to go for Sunday brunch.

* Grayze

521 E Grayson Street SATX 78215 ● (210) 481-8776

Cozy and quaint, near downtown and the Pearl but set aside so you can avoid a bit of the hustle and bustle. Make a reservation if you have a group larger than four since seating is limited.

*Offering items to go as well as grocery packs. You can also donate online to help provide food to families in need.

* Halcyon

1414 S. Alamo St. SATX 78210 ● (210) 277-7045

This one is a favorite because we used to walk our dog here on Saturday mornings to enjoy the patio, delicious fare, and coffee, but also because they start lunch at 8:00AM (a major pro for this early riser).

*Partnered up with Stella Public House, they are offering curbside and delivery options for meals, alcohol and grocery items. Just follow this link to make your choices

* Hop and Vine

5619 W. Loop 1604 N. Suite 109 SATX 78253 ● (210) 878-4071

Another hot spot in north San Antonio, with a decadent brunch menu and plenty of wine and beer options.

*Open for curbside or delivery and also offering select grocery items.

* Ida Claire

* NOLA Brunch & Beignets

* Supper

136 E. Grayson St. SATX 78215 ● (210) 448-8351

This place always seems to have a heavy flow of traffic, so I suggest making a reservation, but once you sink your teeth into those blueberry pancakes with ricotta and lemon, you’ll never be the same.
