If you want some budget-friendly gift ideas, you may not need to look much further than your neighborhood grocery store. After a quick trip to H-E-B plus!, I found several ideas that may work for your last-minute shopping. (FYI, this post is not sponsored by H-E-B… I’m just a mom that really likes shopping at H-E-B, and I have a feeling Santa does, too!)
1. Holiday Coffee
Either grab a bunch of the samples for all of your coworkers, or a regular bag for out-of-town visitors to take home. My favorite flavor right now is Christmas in a Cup – I wish they sold it year-round! And do you know a family member that can’t make it home for the holidays? Send them a bag of Cafe Ole’s “Taste of San Antonio” to make a socially distanced Christmas a little easier! Samples are $1.09 and regular sized bags are $6.74.
2. Holiday Plants
I found poinsettias for 6.98 and other various holiday plants (like beautiful winterberry) outside for approximately $7 dollars. Prices vary a little bit depending on the plant.
3. Cocinaware
HEB has the CUTEST line of kitchen items. Check out this drying mat for $4 and this tortilla warmer for $6!
4. Build a “Bouquet” of Kitchen Utensils
“Spread” more cheer and “stir” up a friend’s cooking creativity by grabbing a couple of the colorful Cocinaware utensils. Starting at $4. Tie it all in a ribbon and it becomes a cookware bouquet!
5. Texas Craft Beer
Create your own sampler (starting at $1.99 a beer) for that craft beer lover in your life. Look out for the sampler gift bags that come with their own bottle opener.
Or really surprise them with some natural soap created with beer. Because… why not? I found assorted Texas beer soaps for around $7.
6. Planners
Some may forget about the office supply aisle, but if your H-E-B has one, definitely aim your cart in that direction. The lovely planner pictured above costs $5.97, and the simple dry erase planner is $3.69.
7. Magnetic Chalkboard
Perfect for a college student or a Pinterest mom, this stylish magnetic chalkboard was $9.97. It was located very close to an assortment of fun magnets, too!
8. Salsa
Slap a bow on top and you are DONE! Easy peasy. I found assorted salsas for around $3-$4.
9. Christmas Themed Items
Y’all. H-E-B is killing it with their Texas-y and cute Christmas decor. And a lot of it is useful, too. Their “Thirty Fourth and Main” collection has various Christmas plates from around $3-$5, nested ramekins from $3.97, and salt and pepper shakers from $4.
10. Waterproof Sticker Book
Perfect for that Gen Z kid you know. They can use the stickers on water bottles, electronics and more! Find these sticker books on the office supply aisle for $7.97.
11. Loteria Game
I found this Loteria Game for only $1.97 in the kitchenware aisle. Such a simple but fun gift!
12. Books
I found a large assortment of kids books for only a dollar, although there are pricier options such as a Texas-themed Christmas story for $10.36.
13. Candy Cane Twisters
SUCH an easy and yummy gift. Find these treats on the cookie aisle for around $2.78.
14. Llama Tooth Brush Set
After you are finished with the cookies, check out this adorable toothbrush set that is $9.97 that may help even the most reluctant kids want to brush their teeth. While I was there it was available for less with a coupon!
15. Pet Toys
Last but not least, we can’t forget about our furry friends this year either. On the pet aisle, you can find various fun chew toys from around $5-6 dollars. (Although, when I was there they were on sale for $3-$4!)
