Homeschool Days in San Antonio

Hello, homeschooling mamas!

I, too, am one of you! I began homeschooling my daughter last year (continued prayers are welcome). Little by little I’ve been discovering “Homeschool Day” gems around the city, and it left me wondering what else I may be missing out on. So I set out to find all the places in and around San Antonio offering special events for the homeschooling crew, which kind of turned into me calling every single business I love and asking them to start a “Homeschool Day.” Not all heroes wear capes, my friends. Some just have unlimited call minutes and are schooling on a budget.

Some quick notes on what I learned during my many, many, many calls:

  • Places that did not offer a specific homeschool event were happy to offer the same discount to homeschool groups that they do to other school tours. So quick—join a co-op, a cult, or make a a lot of friends! Things are cheaper by the tens.
  • Many of these events work for preschoolers too, if your younguns haven’t started traditional school yet.
  • Many of these dates change from year to year or reoccur monthly, so I could not provide exact dates and times. I listed places that offer specials, with a link to more specific details. Most of these include all the things homeschoolers love: good deals, less crowds, and some extra learning thrown in with fun. Yeehaw!
  • While researching, I discovered that you can search “homeschool events in San Antonio” in Google and a list of scheduled event dates and times will pop up. I also frequently use the search bar in Facebook to find upcoming family-friendly/homeschool events. Boredom should not exist (unless by choice) in this wonderful city of ours!

I’m sure your family will find at least one event you love and maybe even start a new tradition!

I was born and raised in Houston, but I got to S.A. as fast as I could. I'm staying here for the tacos, the parades, the hill country, and the caring people. This city only has cedar fever to keep us from being too perfect. I'm momma to a strong willed girl, an adventure loving boy, and a rescue mutt. Wifey to a man working in the oil field. Don't mistake me for Laura Ingalls, but I do love homeschooling, baking, candle making, nature exploring, coffee sipping, and photo taking. Favorite Restaurant: Bird Bakery (cake and pies, duh!) Favorite Landmark: Hemisfair Park Favorite San Antonio Tradition: Cascarones
