DIY Teacher Gifts

We’re just a few days shy of the first day of school here in San Antonio. Help get your minis more excited about going back by involving them in making a DIY teachers gift. If your minis are anything like mine, arts and crafts are a favorite pastime and can motivate them to do just about anything! Here are 5 easy, budget friendly, DIY crafts that’ll bring a smile to your child’s teacher and start off the year showing them how appreciated she or he really is!

Check out these free back to school teachers gift printables I’ve made for you, complete with gift ideas to go with them!

The first one says, “Let’s start the year off write!” Stick it to a pencil holder stocked full of pens, highlighters, markers, etc. This is cute, simple and practical.

The second is one that says, “I’m a lot to handle so…take some time to relax!” Add this to a gift basket full of pampering items for your child’s teacher.  I filled the one we made with lotions, a mini manicure kit, nail polish, a scented candle and chocolate. All items, including the basket, were purchased at the Dollar Tree!

The third printable reads, “I’ll be one smart cookie with a teacher like you.” Tie to a cute glass jar of homemade cookies and you’re ready to go!

The fourth, and I think my favorite, is one that says, “Here’s to how much you’ll help me grow.” I taped this to a pencil and stuck it in a mini garden I made.  I love the idea of a mini herb garden so I planted basil and aloe, but flowers, cacti, mini shrubs, anythingwill work here. I  find these so beautiful!

Another idea is to monogram a Dollar Tree mug using letter stickers or tape and a few sharpies.  Simply add the letter to your cup, dot all around the outline, let dry for a few minutes and peel the letter/tape off.  To set the marker, “bake” the cup.  Place the cup in a cold oven, turn on to 350 and leave your cup in for about 30 minutes. Turn off your oven and leave the cup in there until it’s completely cool! Hand wash only to keep it looking new!

Your child is sure to start the year off right heading back with a gift for his/her new teacher! Let them know that their tireless work does not go unnoticed!

  1. I usually do some kind of treat. This year we took chocolate to all of the teachers, but I was so late that my kids didn’t even sign their names. Your printables would have been perfect!
