The Montessori School of San Antonio (MSSA) builds on the philosophical and psychological principles developed by Dr. Maria Montessori. At MSSA we recognize that development comes through the student’s own activity and that the faculty’s task is to carefully guide that activity within an environment specially prepared according to the student’s particular stage of development.
Montessori at MSSA is an education that is both nurturing and rigorous, respecting each student’s unique pace and style of learning while continually encouraging each child to reach his/her maximum potential. It is an education that addresses the critical integration of knowledge, skills, understanding, and moral action.

CLDS has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children since 1996. We are honored to be among the few San Antonio preschools to receive this recognition. We take great pride in providing your child with the highest quality of education in a loving and nurturing environment.
Christ Lutheran Day School’s curriculum philosophy is based upon the following principles:
- Developmentally appropriate practices as established by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
- A focus on the whole child – to include development in the areas of literacy, sensory organization, motor activity, social-emotional development, and approach to learning.
- A belief that children develop through a developmental continuum, rather than accomplishing a particular skill set all at once.
Christ Lutheran Day School has created a curriculum that looks at each child’s individual needs and goals to help scaffold him/her to his/her fullest learning potential.

The Gathering Place is a revolutionary new elementary school in San Antonio. The idea was born from Asia Klekowicz and Ryan York’s belief that kids, especially in historically underserved neighborhoods, don’t get a complete education. We spent 10 years teaching, leading, and seeing glimmers of what could be when teachers are trusted, kids are loved for who they are, and administrators don’t measure students by just test scores — but we never saw those pieces fully come together.
Inspired by what could be and disappointed by what was, we quit our jobs, pooled our savings, and traveled the country searching for schools where creativity flourished and every student and teacher was valued. On our journey, we found ourselves in San Antonio, fell in love with the people, and decided never to leave.
We have seen and learned from the best– but we have yet to find what we know can be. So we’ve decided to build it. We have created a new school. A school we wish was around when we were kids, a school we wished existed when we were teachers, a school that all children deserve.
Cardinal Montessori Academy is a family-owned Montessori school enhanced with a variety of enrichment activities to give your child a premier education experience. Our mission is simple: Create. Motivate. Ascend. We create a learning environment that provides children the opportunities to learn using concrete connections and hands-on experiences. We motivate our students to reach their full potential by respecting their individual capabilities without placing preconceived limits on them. As a result, our students ascend to greater heights academically, developmentally, and social-emotionally. Our goal is to provide the foundations for academic knowledge, along with life skills and an appreciation of the arts to grow and develop independent, self-confident, intelligent, well-rounded, productive members of society. SAISD is as diverse and historically rich as the city whose name it shares. As San Antonio’s founding school district, SAISD neighborhood schools have served the heart of the Alamo City for more than 100 years. Today, SAISD serves about 47,000 students across more than 90 schools in our culturally proud, urban community.
We offer a wide variety of programs, including dual-language, career exploration and college-preparation. Along with traditional school models, we also offer academies comprising non-traditional grade ranges such as PK-8.
True to our roots, SAISD continues to pave the way in San Antonio with the city’s only public Montessori school, single-gender campuses, and K-12 International Baccalaureate framework. Additionally, the District has grown 5 P-TECH programs in just a few years.
Outside of the traditional classroom, the spirit of SAISD can be found in programs and activities from extensive athletics to fine arts – including a mariachi curriculum that was pioneered in our District before being modeled across the nation.
From forward-thinking academic and extracurricular programs at our neighborhood schools to a growing list of specialized schools, SAISD students can customize their own educational experience and find what truly drives them. Every student has a journey, and SAISD is supporting that path wherever it may lead for each of its students.
