Paint and Play at Pinot’s Palette!

Pinot’s Palette & Brava Braza provided the Alamo City Moms Blog Contributor Team with an evening of entertainment and food. Our opinions are all our own….and our opinions are pretty stellar of these great, local businesses!

Have you ever had one of “those” days? The kind when you question your choice to bear and raise children? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there. In fact, many of us had been “there” recently and were more than happy to be lured away from the chaos at home to an evening of therapeutic painting, food, drinks, and laughter on a much-needed Moms Night Out with Alamo City Moms Blog’s advertising partner, Pinot’s Palette!

Pinot's Palette: Door

To give you a little background, Pinot’s Palette is a locally owned studio started by friends Cristina Canales and Terry Narazak. These entrepreneurs have built a business that strives by the motto: Paint. Drink. Have fun. And we did just that! We arrived a little before 7:00 P.M. and were greeted by our artist and teacher for the evening, Mel. After a few minutes of chatting and catching up, Chef Joe from the nearby new (and delicious!) Braza Brava delivered some yummy gourmet pizzas to us. RUN, don’t walk, to this local pizzeria. It has a family feel, wood burning oven, and that “it” factor that makes it a restaurant you want to visit ASAP.

Braza Brava, pizza
Oh, hello! Are you bringing me gourmet pizza from Braza Brava? That I didn’t have to prepare? YES, please!
There are NO words for the deliciousness of this over roasted 'za.

Everyone brought her own drink of choice, and Pinot’s Palette provided us with everything we needed, from ice and utensils to plates and cute wine glasses. How’s that for easy?

Pinot's Palette - Wine Glass and Canvas

Pinot’s Palette is part of a network of studios, so we were able to go online to select our painting for the evening. There are literally hundreds from which you can choose! What’s even cooler is that while there are paintings that can be found anywhere, Cristina and Terry work with many local artists to create paintings that are specific to San Antonio. Given our love for the Alamo City, we chose a cultural icon: the sugar skull.

Mel sat us down with our canvases and did a wonderful job of explaining the process. What impressed me the most is how she handled our diverse group of painters. We had some moms who were stressed out just by the thought of mixing colors and others who needed help finding the perfect shade of turquoise. Mel was helpful to everyone and encouraged us to come up with our own designs…or to just follow hers. She made sure each mama was comfortable, relaxed, and having fun while listening to music and sipping on a lil’ something (note: a paintbrush or two may have accidentally ended up in a wine glass—occupational hazard).

The evening ended with each of us taking home our own painting and feeling significantly more relaxed than when we walked in the door a mere two hours earlier!

If you’re interested in learning more about Pinot’s Palette, guess what? Today they are hosting a very special ribbon-cutting ceremony in honor of their second year in business! Senator Leticia Van de Putte will be on hand to celebrate the unveiling of the awesome new painting “Starry Night Over San Antone,” created by local Artist, Bianca Alvarez. Guests will be treated to complimentary champagne and appetizers. You can stay (trust me—it’s worth it!) and enjoy a relaxing evening learning to paint the newest masterpiece.

Pinot's Palette: AmandaPinot’s Palette offers a variety of classes for two- and three-hour paintings, which you can attend solo or for a date night! They are also hosting a Girls Night Out at the end of the month. Can’t make it to the studio and want to host a Moms Night? No worries! Pinot’s Palette has a mobile unit and can come to you. How cool is that? They also host open art days for kids, where your child can paint a canvas for $10. All ages welcome!
